Camping Lounge Chair

A camping lounge chair takes up quite a bit of room if you're travelling in a compact automobile, but it's a great item of camp furniture to have once you've reached your destination.

At the end of a long day's driving, or walking, playing or fishing, it's a great feeling to grab your favorite beverage in one hand and plonk your rear end into a camp lounge chair, lift your feet onto something for support, and just lean right back and feel good about life.

There are different types of camping chair you can get to lounge on. The old fashioned lounge chairs are made of wood and canvas, and are often like the 'Directors Chairs' you see from the movies, where the directors and actors have their own canvas chairs with their names painted on the back. These make the strongest camping lounge chair I've had dealings with, but they are bulky and heavy. They would be fine for a standing camp - one that is semi-permanent, but not if you have to pack, transport and then unpack them again, time after time.

But there are also these metal tubular chairs. they're smaller and lighter, but maybe I'm just too fat or something because I've had two or three of the metal ones just buckle and break on me when I leaned back on them too much. The wood and canvas ones won't bend and break like that, but you could overbalance and land on your back! (If it ever happens to you just relax and keep your head forward and your chin on your chest... that way you won't smack your head on the ground.)

A camping lounge chair won't cost you much to buy, and as long as you purchase a decent-quality one, it should last you for many years. Just don't push your luck by leaning back in it very often!
