Kids Sleeping Bags
Kids sleeping bags are manufactured in just about every
super-hero design imaginable, so there is sure to be a
children's sleeping bag that is just right for him or her.
It's an exciting day for Junior when you buy him his first
child sleeping bag so he can go camping with
the Cub Scouts or stay overnight at a nearby friend's
house.
You will find kids sleeping bags in just about every color
under the rainbow nowadays; with pictures of Spider man or
other children's TV heroes displayed all over it. You can also
find sleeping bags with designs such as Pooh Bear,
which your daughter will probably love better.
Pick a sleeping bag that's machine-washable and which opens out
to cover the whole bed when used at home. Then you've just
invested in a multi-purpose item of camping equipment that will
give years of pleasure and practical use until your child grows
too big to use it any more.
Just remember that most child sleeping bags are not warm enough
for camping out in a tent. If you ever take the family out
camping, then make sure your children have a decent sleeping
mat or foam mattress pad underneath them, and a
couple of extra blankets.
It gets really cold in a tent at night because there's no
insulation in the roof, walls or floor. And, to make things
worse, the cold and damp come up from the ground. Your
kids and you will need more insulation underneath the body
than on top.
A cotton sleeping bag
liner (which you can sew from an old bed sheet) adds an
extra layer to trap warm air, and a woollen beanie or balaclava
hat will keep the head warm. A track suit or set of pyjamas
will also keep anybody heaps warmer, and did I mention woolen
bed socks? These make a world of difference too, on extra cold
nights. I also like to have an old fashioned hot
water bottle with me. It's nearly as warm as an electric
blanket, and it's a comfort to hug as well... like a Teddy
bear.
