Silk Sleeping Bag Liner
A silk sleeping bag liner, or any
bag liner for that matter, helps keeps your sleeping bag clean.
It also adds an extra layer to trap air and keep you even
warmer at night.
And if it's ever a really hot and sweltering night, you can
sleep in the silk sleeping bag liner instead of the bag, and
just pull the sleeping bag over you as the temperature cools
down overnight.
And since the cold come up from the hard ground underneath
you, you've got to have a sleeping pad, mat or a mattress.
It's just too uncomfortable without one. This assumes you have
a groundsheet (waterproof ground cloth) as well. All modern
tents have them, except for some big canvas tents, that is.
You can purchase a silk sleeping bag liner at better camping
supply stores, or you can make one yourself from a cut-down bed
sheet. Ask any friend with a sewing machine if they can help
you whip your silk sleeping bag liner together, and you'll be
glad you did.
And for people backpacking in Youth Hostels or places with
shared dormitories, bringing your own sleeping bag liners is a
requirement. A silk sleeping bag liner is a really classy
touch.
